Coldest Night of the Year 2018
It’s Cold Out There! Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is a nation-wide event that raises money for charities that work with the hungry, the hurting and the homeless. Funds raised in Belleville and Kingston go to support our work among those at the margins within our cities.
What is Coldest Night of the Year?
CNOY is a chance for those of us who have been blessed with warm, dry and safe environments to get a small taste of what it’s like for those who don’t have the basics we take for granted at the statistically coldest time of the year. And all of it raises awareness and money for charities that work to help the less fortunate.
Event participants sign up by either joining an existing team, or by starting one of their own. They recruit friends to join their team, and then ask their friends, family and coworkers to sponsor them as they walk a 2k, 5k or 10k route on event day. In each city the funds raised go to support the host charity, so funds raised by walkers in Belleville or Kingston go to help nightlight. Last year the event raised about $60,000 for nightlight.
