Partner with us to take nightlight Cambridge from Seed to Sustainability

Since opening our Cambridge drop-in centre in May 2018, nightlight Cambridge has been partnering with churches to bring the good news of God’s kingdom to those at the margins of our city. In the Gospels, we read about how Jesus preaches the good news to the poor. He knows that the Father’s heart is with the excluded, and since they’re so special to him, that’s where he spends most of his time. Jesus’ command for the church to engage in mission isn’t just for the select few who have the means to go overseas, it’s for all of us and nightlight gives Christians an opportunity to engage in that mission in their own city.

To this point, the ministry has received a great deal of its support from a handful of seed donors who have given generously and sacrificially to help us keep the doors open, but in order to take nightlight Cambridge from seed to sustainability, we need to cultivate a large number of smaller donors, rather than a small number of large donors. In order to accomplish this, we’re launching our new fundraising campaign, “Serving Jesus, One Cup at a Time.”

 In Matthew 25:31-46, we read the parable of the sheep and the goats. Jesus congratulates the faithful for their practical kindness to those in distress saying, “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” As we are compassionate towards the poor, the needy, the lonely and the marginalized, we are faithfully serving Christ who identifies with them. That’s why we can speak about serving Jesus one cup of coffee at a time.
