The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that a new position, Director of Operations, has been created at nighlight Canada.
In keeping with our commitment to address the necessary organizational requirements for a business in Canada, the Director of Operations will help us build a plan for all the policies and documents that are required to enable nightlight to be a sustainable ministry. As most of you already know, we have been actively pursuing becoming a registered Canadian Charity which has more demanding requirements than those for a private business. nightlight is also an Affiliate Member of the Canadian Council of Christian Charities which has even higher standards. Helping this new organization we know as nightlight become effective in meeting our obligations will require some important planning and research… and then implementation of the necessary steps. This is a huge undertaking.
The Board is delighted that for the summer of 2014 Cian O’Neill-Kizoff is our initial Director of Operations and will be working full time for nightlight Canada. Cian was part of the initial Visioning Team during the formation of nightlight in 2011 and is a past Monday night volunteer at our Kingston site. A Civil Engineering graduate from Queen’s, Cian is now in the midst of a Master’s in Health & Social Planning. He is passionate about healthy community development, education, and social justice. He has past management experience as a foreman on an organic farm as he cares deeply for this planet that God has told us to care for. When he’s not immersed in nightlight’s operations in Kingston and Belleville you can find him at one of his favourite summer activities… picnics, ultimate frisbee, and long-distance bike rides. This summer Cian and his fiancé, Lisa Alton, also a former nightlight volunteer and Intern, are also preparing for their wedding .
Please accept my thanks in advance for anything that you can do to help Cian equip nightlight in becoming an exemplary Christian Charity in the midst of Caesar’s world, “IN the world but not OF the world”, sustaining the ministry that we have been given… “A Safe Place to Build Meaningful Relationships”
